Dear brothers and sisters in Christ:
We can read in Psalms 127:1 that “Unless the Lord builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the Lord protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good”. And unless the people of God help build the house, then no house can be built!
We are getting ready to take the next step in our ministries vision that the Lord has given us. We have been given an amazing opportunity to obtain our own building in the middle of a very fertile mission field. This mission field is in the middle of the Greer Mill Village at the corner of Connecticut Ave and Bobo St in Greer SC. This building is 16,000 sq feet and has a 1 acre level, paved parking lot which will allow us to serve the needy as only our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ can. For far too long certain areas (neighborhoods) have been neglected by the church and we feel called to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ into these areas on a permanent basis. These are the poor and downtrodden, addicted and homeless that the Lord has set us apart to reach and I am appealing to each of you to seek God’s will about how much He would have you to give towards this effort. We are looking to raise $60,000 in 60 days. To some this may seem enormous but I have witnessed much larger miracles then this. 60 people, families or a ministry giving $1000 and it is done. This money will go to the down payment of and up fit to certain areas of the facility.
To the other ministries that are receiving this request, I know you have church expenses and outreach programs but we are asking as if we were a foreign missions team going into a foreign missions field for your support. Without the help of our brothers and sisters from other expressions of the Body of Christ this will be a difficult if not impossible financial task. Some of you may be able to help in a much bigger way then others but every donation counts to help increase the Kingdom of God.
Many have been very faithful to give to our ministry in the past, and I want to thank each of you. Others have not yet given, and I want to remind those families and friends that this is the Lord’s church in which we are all members. All I’m asking is that you sincerely pray and seek God, and please be sensitive to His voice in hearing what amount you should give. If we all did that then I can promise you that every need would be met.
As we take on the extra expenses involved in this building purchase, the church still has the regular expenses as well. We don’t want to stop our outreach (it is why we are trying to do this) or community programs, and we still have to pay the light bill and the mortgage that will come along with the privilege of ownership for this ministry. I say that only because I know that it’s easy to forget that it costs money to run a church from day to day.
I thank each of you for your giving, and ask that now we all make a commitment to “dig a little deeper” so we can see this project completed. On the attached page please see specific amounts for “sponsoring” specific areas of the Rushing Wind Ministries facility as well as the buildings specifications. An attractive wall display in entryway foyer will recognize those that contributed to this effort. Thank you for joining together with me to see God’s work accomplished.
